Ombre wine bottles
What you need:
- orange, white, and yellow spray paint
- empty wine bottles, labels removed
- cardboard (for your spray painting space)
- optional: pumpkin, leaves, twigs, candy corns
Directions:
- Remove the labels on the bottles. (Tip: Soaking bottles in hot water helps the labels peel off easily.)
- Set up your spray paint ares. (Tip: Always spray outside or in a well ventilated area)
- First spray the entire bottle white, then orange in the middle, then yellow on the bottom!
- Let dry for an hour!
Pumpkin Vase
What you need:
- Paper-mache pumpkins (Available at Michaels)
- Acrylic paint
- Paint brushes
- Painters tape
- Drill
- Artificial flowers or leaves
- Wire cutters
Directions:
- Paint your pumpkin however you would like.
- Let them dry and then drill about 10 small holes in the top of your pumpkin. Brush off any excess grit.
- Cut your fake flowers or leaves into small bunches with the wire cutters, then insert them into the holes.
Wine Cork Pumpkin
What you need:
- 25 recycled wine corks
- Orange acrylic paint
- Paint brush
- Hot glue gun
- Craft knife
- Green felt
- Scissors
- Jute twine
Directions:
- Dilute the paint with a bit of water and paint both ends of all but one cork. Allow to dry.
- Arrange the corks in rows (4 on the bottom, then 5, then 6, then 5, and 4 on the top row) and hot glue them together. For best results, try to match up the corks so they’re the same length in each row.
- Take the one remaining cork and cut off part of it with the craft knife. Hot glue it on top as the stem.
- Cut leaf shapes from the green felt and hot glue them on around the “stem”.
- Tie a short length of twine around the stem to resemble the vine.
Scarecrow Craft for kids
What you need:
- Jumbo Craft sticks
- Cardboard
- White glue
- Craft foam: 1 rectangle for the hat, 1 small strip as the hat ribbon and 1 small triangle for the nose
- Raffia
- Googly eyes
- Glue dots (optional)
- Marker or Crayon
- Flower stickers (optional)
Directions:
- Lay out 5 jumbo craft sticks side by side and glue them down on top of the piece of cardboard
- Glue raffia to the top of the craft sticks in a messy fashion to create the scarecrow’s “hair”
- Make your hat: Cut your foam rectangle to the shape of a hat (any shape!) Glue down the strip of foam to the hat and add flower stickers if you’d like.
- Glue your hat to the top of the raffia. (This is the last piece that does, so tell the kids to put a good amount of glue on the rafia, use the hat down firmly, then leave it alone.)
- Add your face: Glue down 2 google eyes, or use the glue dots. Glue down the rectangle nose. Draw a smile with a crayon or marker.
Pumpkin Garland
What you need:
- Orange yarn
- Green pipe cleaners
- Twine
- Scissors
Directions:
- Wrap yarn around four fingers about 120 times or so.
- Cut a 10 in piece of yarn and stick it between your fingers to war it around the big yarn loop
- Line up the piece of yarn in the middle of the yarn loop, and tie- pulling taut and wrapping around the backside as well.
- You now have your basic pumpkin shape Cut a 2 inch piece of pipe cleaner and tie to the pumpkin using the two loose strands of yarn from Step 3. Don’t trim the strands yet!
- Wrap the pipe cleaner around itself to form the stem.
- Pretty up your pumpkin by tucking in any loose loops
- Once again using the loose strings on the pumpkin to tie them around the twine. Continue making pumpkins until you have enough for your garland.
